BOBCAT Dynamic Signal
Analyzer
The BOBCAT System delivers high performance,
accurate measurements, and complete structural dynamics analysis
in a highly mobile package. BOBCAT consists of a small,
lightweight 8-channel module, a PCMCIA DSP card, data
acquisition software, a Pentiumâ-based
computer, and the STARModalâ
software.
The channel module and DSP card provide
multichannel signal conditioning, filtering, digitization, and
high-speed FFT measurements in a package that measures 9.5 x
7.25 x 1.5 inches and weighs only 2.5 pounds. An optional
external rechargeable battery pack allows BOBCAT to troubleshoot
problems in the field.
STARModal integrates all the structural
analysis capabilities that you require - from time domain
animation and operating deflection shape analysis to advanced
modal analysis. Flexible animation capabilities let you clearly
visualize structural vibration behavior and identify problems.
Featuring intuitive pull-down menus and the
point-and-click interface of the Microsoftâ
Windows 95TM operating environment, the BOBCAT user
interface minimizes training time and speeds test and analysis
operations.
BOBCAT...A High Performance, Mobile
System for Dynamic Test and Modal Analysis
An integrated system for modal testing and analysis, BOBCAT
offers superb measurement and structural analysis capabilities.
BOBCAT's compact size makes it ideal for modal testing, whether
you are working in your laboratory or in the field.
High Performance, AccurateData Acquisition
The BOBCAT System offers FFT analysis (DC to 20 kHz) on all 8
input channels and an output channel for random, discrete sine,
and discrete sine-on-random signals. Each input channel has a
dedicated 16-bit ADC with programmable voltage ranges and
anti-alias filter. An 80 dB signal-to-noise-ratio and selectable
AC, DC, Differential, or ICP input guarantee accurate data.
BOBCAT supports data streaming to the PC host disk at a 12 kHz
sample rate (5 kHz analysis) for all 8 input channels
simultaneously.
Special Features for Modal Data Acquisition
Designed to do modal testing, BOBCAT provides full structural
analysis capability. Variable spectral resolution, comprehensive
measurement functions, and multiple display windows simplify
data acquisition. Flexible windowing and triggering functions
provide the versatility required for accurate modal measurements
on all types of structures.
Special features help ensure that you get the
data you need on the first try. These features include automatic
sample rejection on voltage overload or impact hammer double
hits, manual sample rejection, and audible armed/acquired
trigger status alerts.
Seamless Data Storage Interface to
STARModal
Storing data and coordinate information is as simple as clicking
the 'STAR Save' toolbar button. All data is stored in binary
format so that you can access data from STARModal quickly and
efficiently. To speed data acquisition, you can set up to
automatically increment modal coordinates after each
measurement.
Comprehensive Structural Analysis
Capabilities
STARModal offers a comprehensive set of analysis and animated
display capabilities to fully characterize a structure's dynamic
response. A wide variety of curve fitters, from simple peak
pickers to highly sophisticated multireference algorithms, allow
you to obtain accurate results quickly. And you can easily
verify results by using FRF synthesis and Modal Assurance
Criteria.
Flexible structural modification options
allow you to simulate fixes analytically. You can also simulate
structural responses to real-world forces. To view the total
system response, time-domain analysis animates time history data
directly. Operating deflection shapes allow you to determine a
structure's motion at a specific operating speed or frequency.
Beyond Modal Analysis
You can extend your data analysis capabilities by using supplied
DLL libraries to interface to applications such as MATLABTM
and EXCELTM. For acoustic analysis, STARAcousticsTM
allows you to identify noise sources and quantify sound power.
