Computer-Aided
Test Suite Networking
Network
communication is a fundamental part of the Computer-Aided Test
Suite. These products provide a seamless link from test
instrumentation to a networked Microsoft Windows 98/NT
environment with full ActiveX and Object Linking and Embedding
(OLE) capability.
From
real-time monitoring and test control across the network to
enhanced data analysis and report generation, the Computer Aided
Test Suite improves laboratory productivity and quickly gets
test results to the people who need it.
By
embedding data in OLE-compliant documents like Microsoft Word
and Excel, data may be distributed electronically to speed its
use by engineers to solve product noise and vibration problems.

NetViewer
The
NetViewer program allows a user to remotely view live test data
from a PC anywhere on the network. Test operators can monitor
the status of long duration tests without going to the test
laboratory. Customers can even view live test data over a modem
or across the Internet. Multiple PC's running NetViewer allow
engineers to independently view response data from different
parts of a structure simultaneously.
NetViewer
works by "connecting" to a DataServer running a test
on a PUMA system. Once connected, NetViewer has all of the same
display capabilities as the PUMA system running the test.
Restricting Netviewer from any access to test execution ensures
safety. NetViewer operates completely independent of the PUMA
system and is not limited to viewing the same data as viewed by
the test operator. Premium NetViewer even allows storage of data
on the remote PC, thereby permitting independent analysis by the
viewer.
Host
Remote Control
Host
Remote Control provides complete control of a PUMA system from
another PC on the network. Host Remote Control allows
comfortable, safe operation of PUMA systems installed in areas
that are inaccessible or may be hazardous to the test operator.
While
all test control is performed on the PUMA test system, the
graphical user interface runs on the remote PC system. The user
interface is identical to the one on the PUMA system.
ActiveX
Automation
ActiveX
Automation allows the user to take advantage of PUMA's
client/server architecture to automate test control functions
and integrate PUMA test control into other programs.
The
ActiveX Automation feature includes example test control
programs and tool kits for the user to develop his own programs
using ActiveX control of the PUMA. Tool kits are available for
C++, Visual Basic, and LabView with built-in PUMA test control
functions.
ActiveX
Automation supports both local and network control. Using
ActiveX Automation Multiple PUMA Shaker Control system may be
monitored and controlled by a single PC system in the laboratory
control room.
